Watauga County Announces Electronic Recycling Program
Residents can now bring their unwanted electronic equipment to the Recycling Center at the old landfill, located at 336 Landfill Road in Boone off Highway 421, behind the Nissan dealership, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. First Mr. McCain and now Mr. Bush are calling for the ban on offshore oil drilling to be lifted. If this is not good ole’ American politics at work I don’t know what is. Don’t fall for it; the only ones who will benefit from lifting this ban are the corrupt politicians and the greedy oil companies. This is not the answer to our problems; it will only make our problems worse. I like to use those nylon scrubbies to clean my cast iron pots & pans. Their not really natural but they will scour without harming the pan. Well, my last store bought scrubbie finally bit the dust.I had read somewhere that you can make your own using the netted bags that produce comes in, so I had been saving them for that purpose. This is a dilemma that most of us will face sooner or later. Computers don’t last forever. Just recently I had to come up with a way to keep my old monitor out of the landfill. After doing some research I found out that computer monitors (along with tv’s) contain high amounts of lead. This is not good for our Mother. So what do you do?
