Simple Living, I Cut My Hair
This is the first installment of the simple things I do to reduce my impact on Mother Earth
I cut my own hair. Yes sometimes looks like it, though it turns out fine a majority of the time. Think about it, how many times have you gotten a bad haircut? I know my hair better than anyone. I don’t have to wait for an appointment. It’s not rocket science. All you need is a comb & hair cutting shears. I save money on hair salon fees and the gas it takes to get there.
I also don’t use much product. I use shampoo (bio-degradable, non-toxic, no animal testing) with an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse. We have just recently switched to a shampoo bar, reducing the number of shampoo bottles we have to dispose of. I have never used hair color or dye. I have never had a perm in my hair. Why expose your hair and scalp (and the environment) to all those damaging chemicals? You’ll probably regret it later. Just be yourself, naturally.

Well, I just retired from the Air Force. For the first time I can do what I want with my hair without breaking military rules. Needless to say I took out my hairclippers and with a 1/2″ gaurd shaved my head. I feel so free. Plus no more styling products or shampoo. I will probably out grow this phase, but right now I love it regardless of how Un-fem it may be to the general public. It is liberating in so many ways:) It has made me think a lot about society and pressures women must bear to be beautiful from shaved armpits, legs, etc..bras, plucking, make-up, when did we become so removed from nature and so “nature-ly ugly”?
